The new museum structure was conceived as an amalgamation of the ‘iconic’ Australian woolshed and of traditional Italian building characteristics. The building is analogous to the intersection and integration of Anglo-Saxon and migrant Italian culture that transformed local vernacular society.

The Italian museum is located within a bushland setting adjoining Pioneer park, which maintains numerous original structures and agricultural relics, dating back to the foundation of Griffith and its surrounding villages.
